It appears President Mahama is ready for a face off with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Nana Addo. According to reports, Mahama has challenged NPP’s Nana Ado to debate and to prove his positive plans for the people of Ghana. The President plans to debunk the negative remarks by the NPP Flagbearer especially the one which as to do with his State of The Nation (SOTN) Address.
The president is not at all pleased with some statements he has described as contentious made by the NPP.
The constant disregard by the NPP’s flagbearer and his running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia towards the achievements of President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration is no more news. The most recent being that of Nana Addo making his own version of the State of the Nation Address on February 29 to counter Mahama’s SOTN address drew a lot of attention from the public.
Nana Addo had said the president seems be out of touch with reality to present the SOTN Address the way he did. Bawumia also in the same vein, during an academic summit in February, also trashed the achievements of the NDC. Mahama who seems to have had enough of the drama has dared to have a debate with Nana Addo and put an end to all the misinformation. He has also made statements asking Nana Addo and the NPP not to undermine the achievements of his administration.
During an interview with TV3, he said he is ready to take the NPP flagbearer on a debate regardless of the fact it was political parties that determined what debate they are to go on.
From all indications, President Mahama is ready to debate Nana Addo to clear the contentious assertions by he NPP, hence his reputation. Although at the moment Nana Addo has not made any statement concerning Mahama’s proposal, we have our ears on the ground to that effect.
