From the music show to the fashion displays – both the ones that make sense and the ones that are completely crazy ones, we bring you all you will never want to miss from the one in town Indigo 02 concert organised by popular Ghanaian rapper, Michael Owusu Addo, a.k.a Sarkodie.
Held on the 11th of March, Sarkodie’s Indigo 02 Concert left many jaws dropping and many minds blowing off as I will confidently say that no such concert has ever been hosted by Ghanaians as much as I could recall.
Exclusively hosted by Ghana’s own, Dj Abrantee and with great support from Dj Mensah as well as The Compozers band, the show kicked off with some performances like ABC Dancers, AfroB, Tione Wayne, NSG & Jaij hollands. The décalé dancers and other thrilling acts also added much colour to the event as they kept the huge audience spellbound.
The ‘big head that wears the cap’, Sarkodie was colourfully introduced by Abrantee unto the stage alongside famous live band, The Compozers. Sarkodie showed he is a real man of the people by greeting the audience and thanking them on this first appearance before the time for his life performance.
Another spectacular thing about the show was that it coincided with Dj Abrantee’s birthday. Rocking a Kwame Koranteng designer suit, he continued to beam with smiles on sage all through the show.
The much anticipated time for Sarkodie to perform live finally arrived and the audience were full of life and cheers. They gave him a standing ovation amidst shouts of phrases like ‘Sark we love you’, ‘Sark you are the best’, ‘Sark we are here because of you’, ‘Sark too much’…
Sarkodie did most of his verses in his native language twi, but the delivery and execution combined with his bounce-flow was mind blowing and epic during the 1 hour 30-minute display. The unique change of attires by the much admired musician as the performance progressed added to the audience’s thrill and excitement – He changed his clothes three good times! And the third one of course was a crazy one.
Sarkodie gave a quality of rap I’ll describe as classic as he took the old school approach to rocking the crowd. He avoided the gimmicks, razmataz or the MP3 PA’s common with rap concerts.
As the crowd were still wrapped up in the thrilling live performance, they were completely blown off by the sudden and unannounced appearance of Fuse ODG. The UK-based artiste joined Sarkodie in his hit song, ‘Down On One’ which was performed with much energy. Sarkodie who started his performance with ‘When I grow up’, ended his display with the much loved ‘ Adonai’.
At this time, the crowd were already drunk with excitement and lost in revelry. The noise was like that of a roaring sea, with the ladies giving out shrilling shouts of admiration and the guys dancing away their souls!
Words will fail me to describe in full details, all that happened at that unforgettable night . Sarkodie has really made history and also boosted his fame with this heartwarming epic Indigo 02 Concert.
