The rabbit grass is common and easy to find n nearby bushes; so the boys who chew it have no difficulty or constraint in having abundant access to it.

The Health Director also seized the opportunity to reveal that some of the Tema boys also smoke fruity scented cigarettes to outwit their parents and teachers. The said cigarette which comes in different flavours including strawberries, cherry, apple and mint is thinner and longer than the ordinary ones.

Dr. Yabani explained that the flavours were at the filter end of the cigarette so by the time they finished smoking the piece, the fruity scent overshadows the tobacco, leaving no traces of the true cigarette scent in their breath. He however cautioned the youth against smoking of cigarette irrespective of its flavour as the act exposes them to the risk of contracting respiratory and other health problems.
