Wonders, they say, will never end! Vacations are known to be for a small group of people, maybe, a couple, family members, classmates at school, colleagues at work, etc. Just a small group, going somewhere to spend time together or unwind. But it is almost unimaginable, if not totally unheard of that 6,400 persons will be going out for a vacation at the same time, under the same umbrella.
But that is exactly what happened recently when the Chairman of Tiens Group – a Chinese conglomerate, Li Jinyuan took all his staff on a vacation in Paris, France. The workers, numbering 6,400 were treated to the time of their lives and were given the VIP treatment on an all expenses paid vacation by their billionaire boss, as the company celebrated its 20th anniversary.
The vacation lasted for four days. The company booked 140 hotels and 4,760 rooms between Cannes and Monaco. The mega vacation has entered the history books as the biggest tour group to visit the country of France.
The vacation saw the tour group move between Paris and Nice, with a private tour of the Louvre museum, watching the Moulin Rouge Cabaret show and a private shopping session at luxury department store Galeries Lafayette which cost about £9.5 million.
All staff members lined up on the waterfront, Promenade des Anglais, to spell out the phrase “Tiens’ dream is nice in the Côte d’Azur” that was visible from above. It broke the Guinness World Record for the longest human made sentence.
It’s not the first time a Chinese company has arranged for massive tours overseas. Last year, a group of 7,000 made a trip to the U.S. to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Sino-U.S. diplomatic ties.
Tiens Group operates in a diverse range of business interests, including biotechnology, tourism and trade.
