The dynamic Zanetor saga has taken another interesting dimension, as she has filed a fresh suit at the supreme court, seeking a restraining order to stop the judge hearing her case at a High Court. Apparently, Dr Rawlings wants the presiding Judge, Kwaku T. Ackah Boafo kicked out of her case.
In the writ which was filed by her lawyer, Rawlings sought an order of prohibition directed to His Lordship Kwaku T. Ackah Boafo of the High Court restraining him from proceeding to hear the case challenging her eligibility to run for election.
Dr. Zanetor currently faces a suit filed by the incumbent NDC MP for Klottey Korle, Nii Armah Ashietey, over claims that she is not a Ghanaian registered voter, and hence should not be allowed to run for the seat. The Electoral Commission which was involved in the case, has confirmed she is not a registered voter which buttresses Nii Ashietey’s demands that the election of Dr. Rawlings’ win be declared null and void. Ashietey also wants the court to order the NDC to re-run the primary in the area.
The Court, presided by Kweku Boafo, had dismissed two applications by Zanetor to throw out Ashietey’s case, despite her high hopes on the applications. To crown the humiliations, she was fined a sum of GHC2,500 by the same judge for wasting court’s time with her applications.
However, it seems Dr. Rawlings has had enough of Hon. Kweku Boafo’s rulings. She is seeking an order of certiorari – to examine the actions of the court.
Zanetor hopes the supreme court listens to her and revisits the case so as to put an end to the saga. If Dr. Rawlings’ plea is heard, Nii Ashietey should then be ready for more court hearings, as she is obviously not ready to throw in the towel.
