The President at late Bob Okala’s funeral expressed his condolence to the bereaved family, and hailed late Okala for the significant role he played in the entertainment industry as a comedian.

It was a final farewell to the late comedian, Samuel Kwadwo Buabeng, also known as Bishop Bob Okala. The remains of late Okala arrived in Accra from the Eastern Region on Saturday, June 11. The funeral took place at the Arts Centre.

The body was accompanied by a six-vehicle convoy including an ambulance which contained his mortal remains. The funeral was graced by many dignitaries including President Mahama, Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Creative Arts, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Minister of Communications, and others who came to pay their last respect to the iconic comedian. Okala's funeral1

Notable local comedian, A1 and several others who dressed like the late comedian, all accompanied the body to the offices of the Multimedia Group Limited at the Kokomlemle in Accra. David Dontoh, Mr. Beautiful and some other people who are in the creative art industry were also present. Actor Paa George and other family members of the comedian also followed the body to Accra.

According to the President, late Okala touched the lives of many and brought joy to many homes through his stand-up comedy.

The late comedy giant passed away at the Koforidua Hospital on Sunday, March 13 after he collapsed on stage during a carnival at the Koforidua Jackson park. He was said to have suffered a brief illness which some fellow comedians admitted to have noticed earlier before his demise.

Renowned comedian Agya Koo who put up a show with late Okala at the 59th Independence Day Parade, during an interview, said he and some others had noticed he was not well during the rehearsals.
