President Mahama continues to ‘speak up’ on the car gift saga. This time, he has revealed his preference when it comes to cars. The President in his latest comments on the allegations, said he does not like American cars. We have been made to understand that the President only uses Japanese cars, as revealed by him.
Speaking on the car gift debate, Mahama during a meeting with the clergy at the Flagstaff House, said he only uses his favourite car, which is Toyota. He also said that he has not used the gift for his personal comfort. During the meeting, the President also said he is not aware that some Ghanaians have petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), over the issue.
After a long silence, President Mahama on Wednesday, decided to respond to the allegations hurled at him over the Ford expedition car gift he received from Burkinabe Contractor Djibril Kanzoe. Responding to the bribery allegations, the President dared his critics to back their allegations with proper legal actions if they deemed it necessary. He also implied that the criticisms are strategies deviced by his contenders to sway the people into voting for them at the November polls.
Following a Joy FM exposé which revealed that President Mahama received a Ford expedition Car gift worth $100,000 from a Burkinabe Contractor, he has come under intense public criticism for accepting the car gift from the said contractor, who was subsequently awarded a contract by the state.
