Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has suffered another setback after missing training on Thursday with a muscular injury.
Asamoah suffered the injury on Wednesday when he played the entire duration in the win over Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia. He will undergo medical checks today (Friday) to ascertain the extent of the damage on his right thigh.
A club statement confirmed his injury alongside striker Mario Mandzukic:
Kwadwo Asamoah and Mario Mandzukic were both absent from this morning’s workout after they reported muscular discomfort during yesterday’s win over the Nerazzurri.”
The Ghanaian [right thigh] and Croatian [left calf] will undergo medical checks tomorrow to assess the full extent of their issues.”
Asamoah is a major doubt for this Sunday’s trip to Chievo Verona in the Serie A. He has made just two Serie A starts this season as he has been frequenting the treatment room.
Kwadwo ‘Kojo’ Asamoah is a Ghanaian professional footballer, who plays as a left midfielder, left wing-back or as an offensive central midfielder. He plays for ItalianSerie A club Juventus and the Ghana national football team. He is a hardworking, tactically versatile player who is primarily known for his pace, strength, stamina, and outstanding technical, physical, and athletic characteristics. All these unique skills allow him to be effective both offensively and defensively, as a ball-winner. Kwadwo Asamoah is also a predominantly left-footed agile dribbler.
Asamoah was awarded CAF Most Promising African Player in 2010 and named Ghana Player of the Year twice consecutively for 2012 and 2013. He was also ranked as the 27th best footballer in the world by Bloomberg in 2013.
It is quite pathetic to note that Kwadwoh Asamoah’s football career has been one characterized by series of injuries. He has been injured five consecutive times in just four years(2013-2016).
