Ace Tv presenter, Nana Aba Anamoah and popular actress and Tv host Sandra Ankobiah have been appointed Ghana’s Women Football Ambassadors. They were officially unveiled in a ceremony at the Kempinski Hotel, Accra, on Thursday.
The appointment by the Sports Ministry aims at increasing awareness for women’s football in Ghana, as well as raising fund to support the sports. Nana Aba Anamoah and Sandra Ankobiah will be working in tandem to lift the face of the National Women’s Football Teams in Ghana, using their celebrity brand and popularity.
With people’s increased loss of flair for the Women’s Football in the country, they are expected to educate and create awareness of the Women’s game. They are also expected to get to work immediately in raising not only funds but enthusiasm ahead of the Africa Women Championship to be staged in Cameroon later this year.
Minister of Youth and Sports Nii Lantey Vanderpuye told the Press that they have not set a target for the ladies, by appointing them Ghana’s Women Football Ambassadors, rather, they’ve made a kind of deal where the ambassadors get more money just as they bring more to the organisation.
He also indicated that he is ready to welcome anyone who is interested in raising funds for the Women’s Football Association.
Nana Aba Anamoah is a presenter at EIB Nework (Starr FM and GHone). She has been an ardent lover of the game since her time at TV3 where she hosted a Sports/entertainment show DIVA. Sandra Akobeah on the other hand doubles as a TV presenter and an actress. She has also supported Women’s game through her donations to promote the fading sport.
