Nana Addo begins second Ashanti Region campaign tour today; Wednesday, October 19
Presidential candidate of the major opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Dankwah Akufo-Addo is beginning a second campaign tour of the Ashanti Region today, Wednesday the 19th of October, ahead of the imminent 2016 elections.
According to reports, this second campaign in the region will be a four-day tour. This was confirmed by the NPP Regional Secretary, Samuel Pyne who told Citi News yesterday [Tuesday] that all necessary security measures have been put in place in the affected constituencies ahead of the visit.
Mr Pyne disclosed that Nana Addo’s visit of the Ashanti Region will include meetings with traditional rulers and leaders of the Zongo communities, as well as addresses to party faithfuls, supporters and sympathisers.
Speaking further, the regional secretary said that Nana Addo is going to give out the message of hope to the people of Ashanti and also, address all their grievances which are readily contained in the NPP’s manifesto. Some of the concerns of the Ashantis according to Mr Pyne include unemployment, poor medical services, especially that of the National health Insurance Scheme(NHIS), and high tariffs.

Nana Addo begins his second campaign tour of the NPP’s stronghold just a day after his return from a private trip to Germany and the United Kingdom. Having visited some constituencies in his last campaign tour of the region, Nana Addo is expected to this time around visit ten other constituencies, including Manhyia North, Bosome-Freho, Atwima Kwanwoma, Nsuta-Kwamang-BeposoAdansi-Asokwa, and New Edubiase.
These constituencies were specifically mapped out for visits due to major challenges facing the party in those places. Commenting on the NDC’s target of 1.5 million Ashanti votes, Mr Pyne described such ambition of the NDC as some quixotic and unfathomable adventure.
