Speaking to the media, Obinim responds to the massive criticisms hurled at him, saying he will not apologise for flogging the teenagers because, it was God who directed him to do so. Explaining himself; Obinim who revealed the ages of the boy and girl to be 16 years and 14 years respectively, said they are his adopted children, whom have been staying with him for up to eight years.

The pastor explained he only acted like any father would do in that situation, and that the public flogging was his way of preventing them from going wayward. Angel Obinim as he calls himself, said it was during church service that God opened his eyes to see what had happened between the two. He said he was forced to flog them because the lady had attempted unsuccessfully to abort the pregnancy.

He also quoted Proverbs 3:24 which states that: Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them. He also went further to say that the Police, have not gone ahead to arrest him even after the complaints from the public, because they support what he did.

Calls have been made from persons and groups for the arrest of Bishop Obinim for abusing the rights of the two teenagers. The Police reacting to the complaints yesterday, had said it will investigate the matter. Also, Minister for Gender and Social Protection Oye Lithur, had announced that she has reported the matter to the Accra Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support (DOVVS) for investigations too.

But the controversial pastor has said that people who have called for his arrest, are unintelligent people who do not understand discipline.
