More condolences continue to troop in for President John Mahama over the death of his mother, Hajia Nneba…
On Thursday, Ghana’s former President, Jerry John Rawlings and his wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings called on the President to commiserate with him on the loss of his mother, Hajia Abiba Nneba.
JJ Rawlings and his wife were accompanied by a large delegation which included their daughters Zanetor Rawlings (who is the NDC Parliamentary candidate for Korle Klottey), Yaa Asantewaa and Amina; cousins Michael Agbotui Soussoudis, Cann-Tamakloe, John Blagogee and a host of others.
They joined the President and his family for a short Islamic ceremony at their family residence in Accra to bid farewell to the late Hajia Nneba.
The ceremony was presided over by National Chief Imam, Sheik Nuhu Sharabutu. The event was graced by government officials, NDC and NPP big wigs, members of other opposition parties, and a host of sympathisers and party loyalists.
Before this, the Former President had earlier called on the President Thursday morning, at his official residence to sympathise with him privately.
Below are photos from the event:
Mahama’s mother, Hajia Abiba Nneba passed on at the SSNIT Hospital Tuesday, 14th June. Owing to Muslim traditions, the late Hajia Nneba should have been buried within 24 hours of her death, but some controversies surrounded the supposed place for her burial.
However, it is believed that this has been resolved as reports reveal she will be finally laid to rest at her hometown Busunu in the West Gonja District on Friday.
