Ghana beat Nigeria 4-1 to lift the prestigious WAFU Cup at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, September 24, 2017. The local team made amends by winning the WAFU Cup of Nations competition after failing to qualify for the Championship of African Nations tournament (CHAN).

However, it was earlier reported that the heroic players were dispatched from camp without their tournament bonuses.
