Female Armed Robbery Gang Arrested In Kumasi

A gang of armed robbers comprising only females have been nabbed in Kumasi by the Police.

Names of members of the gang who are four in number were given as Agnes Darkoaa, also known as Maame Yaa and Last Killer, Ernestina Amponsah a.k.a. Akosua Frimpomaa, Mavis Addo a.k.a. Maame Konadu and Sally Sarpong a.k.a. Maame Serwaa.

According to police reports, the group allegedly attacked and robbed a taxi driver of his daily revenue as well as his handset.

It happened that they chattered the cab driver to take them from Asafo roundabout to Afful Nkwanta in Kumasi. The taxi driver whose name was given as Kwadwo Obeng never perceived they had ulterior motives and so accepted the offer without hesitation.

But, on getting to Afful Nkwanta, they compelled the man to drive to New Oxford International School behind Anwiam Clinic near the NDC Regional Office. On getting there, where Agnes Darkoaa who was in the front passenger seat brandished a knife. It was also gathered that she turned off the engine, removed the ignition key and ordered the driver to surrender all valuables on him including cash. The three others joined Agnes to search and rip the driver of all valuables found on him. This included an unspecified amount of money and a huawei mobile phone.

Unfortunately for the daring gangsters, Mr Obeng raised an alarm and three men came to his rescue. they also pursued the robbers and were able to catch Sally Sarpong.

Sally disclosed the names of the other three who escaped. A police patrol team immediately set out on a search and subsequently traced them to Ahinsan Methodist Church area also in Kumasi. they were picked up as they tried to escape in another taxi.

The four suspects are currently locked at the Zongo police pending further investigations. A total of GhȻ145 as well as the Huawei cellphone and a Samsung T-Mobile phone suspected to have been stolen were retrieved from them.
