Gossip: Kofas Media, Kalybos And Majid Michel In Trouble Over New Movie Title

The smooth filming of the movie ‘Amakye and Dede’ by Kofas Media is said to have been disturbed by legendary high life musician, Amake Dede’s threat to sue Kofas Media and actors Kayblos and Majid Michel.

According to reports gotten from Ghana Vibes, producers of the yet to be released movie did not consult Dede before using his name as the title of the movie which they are still shooting and this is an infringement on the personal rights of the musician.

It is said that neither the two actors nor Kofas Media, the producers of the movie, gave a though to approaching the musician to officially inform him about his name being used as the movie title and to get his approval before they began shooting the movie. Amakye Dede is said to have plans of taking it up though he is yet to make a move.

With this new development, many have tried reaching the musician to find out his take on the issue. But Amakye Dede has not released any official statement concerning this issue so even though there are speculations that he will sue, they all remain speculations as he is still to make any move that the public is aware of.

The movie which stars Kwasi Kyei Darkwah, Kalybos, Majid Michel, Ahuofe Patri, Apostle John Prah, Emilia Brobey, KSM and veterans namely Mac Jordan Amartey, Inspector Bediako, Grace Nortey and Fred Mugi, and many more, is said to be found wanting in full rights acquisition.

Kofas Media who also produced the popular movie, ‘Kayblos in China’, had in January 2016, held a press conference in Accra and talked a lot about how their new movie would promote Kumawood as well as Ghallywood.

‘Amakye and Dede’, a romantic comedy is the story of two childhood friends who shared everything in common and finally grew up to find out that they have fallen in love with the same woman.

Majid Michel had also on set, expressed his excitement about the movie Amakye and Dede.
