‘If You Love NPP, Accept The Result’ – Addison To Nii Noi

Lawyer Addison, the newly elected New Patriotic Party representative for Klottey Korle has urged Nii Noi Nortey to accept the outcome of the elections. Noi had lost to Addison in a re-run for the NPP August Parliamentary Primaries on Saturday.

However, Noi who was unsatisfied with the outcome of the election results, contested it in court.  Some reports say that Nii Noi is considering taking legal action to have the results from Saturday’s primary overturned.

But Addison confident about his win, called on him not to put his personal interests before the NPP, as they should work together to win the opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Before this election, I had pledged that whoever emerged victorious, I would work with that person so that the party will take the seat. I expect that he [Nii Noi] will reciprocate that pledge and also come together so that we work for the part,”  he said.

Addison also affirmed that although Nii Noi pulled so much weight in the media, the elections made it clear whom the NPP delegates wanted;

He had free reign on the media and was being hyped and talked about as a grassroots boy, well it’s been decided,”

He continued that it was normal for one to feel bad after losing an election, and that with time everything would go back to normal.

The NPP Klortey Korle representative urged the need for unity among party members which was very essential for their victory in the coming elections.

We can only hope that they will come together, if they love the party. At the end of the day, it is the party that is Supreme and we want to take the seat from the NDC. We can only do so if we are united,” he added.

The Klortey Korle re-run elections for the NPP in Klortey Korle Constituency on Saturday saw Lawyer Philip Addison, as the winner. Results from the Electoral Commission (EC) showed that Addison won 396 of the 765 votes cast, to beat his only contender, Nii Noi Nortey, who polled 367 votes.
