During Nana Addo’s Agogo visit, he shed more light on his intentions, hinting at possible measures that can be taken to curb the Fulani Crisis…
The 2016 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo, has assured residents of Agogo, in the Asante Akim North constituency, that he will bring to an end, the Fulani crisis if voted into office. He promised the people of Agogo that his government will institute policies that will “ensure that this Fulani menace is ended once and for all.”
Agogo has in recent times been the worst hit by the activities of Fulani herdsmen, whose cattle have destroyed farmlands of farmers. This has led to several clashes between the residents and Fulani herds men, consequently leading to many deaths in the area.
Nana Addo who paid a courtesy call on the Krontihene of Agogo, Nana Kwame Nti, said his government will put in extra effort to see that the Fulani crisis is over and done with. He said that if he is voted into office in this year’s elections, he will put in place measures to ensure that the ‘Fulani menace’ is curbed.
During Nana Addo’s Agogo visit, he shed more light on his intentions, hinting at possible measures that can be taken to curb the pathetic situation. The NPP flagbearer explained that stopping the crisis is no rocket science, as there are other countries that have completely dealt with such, through very significant strategies.
He pointed out that in countries like Brazil where cattle outnumber humans, ranching and the implementation of policies have ensured that similar problems do not arise from such situations. Nana Addo also assured that the issue of unaddressed murders resulting from the clashes in Agogo, which has led to some people taking the law into their hands will also be addressed. He also assured that security services will be strengthened to ensure the safety of the residents.
