More Surprises! NDC Zongo Coordinator In Awutu Senya West Joins NPP; See His Reasons

He revealed that some Awutu Senya West executives tend to frustrate him because they fear that due to his zealous nature, he might rise to become Constituency Chairman. 

Tensions keep running high as Ghana draws closer to the 2016 elections. This latest development will be a shocker for the leading National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to reports, Alhaji Issah Haruna, the NDC Zongo Coordinator in the Awutu Senya West Constituency of the Central Region, has defected to the camp of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Alhaji Haruna who has already made up his mind said he has been neglected by the NDC and the MP for the area, Hannah Tetteh, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

“l campaigned for Hannah Tetteh in 2012, we did all the work for her to win Awutu Senya. After all this hard-work, she has abandoned and neglected me,” he said while speaking to CitiNews.

According to the NPP newbie, he has not been able to work efficiently in the constituency as the Zongo Coordinator. He revealed that some Awutu Senya West executives tend to frustrate him because they fear that due to his zealous nature, he might rise to become Constituency Chairman, which they would not want.

Praising  the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the area, George Nnyani Andah, he said he identifies with his message and would love Hannah Tetteh to be voted out.

The former NDC activist has also revealed that some persons in the ruling party have been threatening him since he declared his decision to leave the party. According to him, he has been getting calls from some unknown NDC elements in the constituency threatening to deal with him when he returns.

Its really getting hotter between these two rival political parties, ahead of the November elections. But then, surprises like this are bound to happen during elections. Come November, the incumbent MP and Foreign Affairs Minister, Hanna Tetteh, will be contesting against George Nnyani Andah, who was also a former Chief Marketing Officer for MTN Ghana.

Defection in the Awutu Senya constituency is no more news. It could be recalled that Lieutenant Col. Danny William Osardu who was disqualified as an NDC Parliamentary aspirant in the Awutu Senya West Constituency also defected to the NPP in 2015.
