Prominent supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP) have continued to warn Ghanaians of the chaos and pathetic condition the country would be plunged into if they eventually allow the ruling National Democratic Congress to be retained in power after the upcoming elections.
Kennedy Agyapong, the Assin North Member of Parliament is specifically warning the Electoral Commission to drop plans of rigging the coming elections, if they have any, because it will certainly result to unimaginable violence.
Speaking to party supporters in Kumasi, Mr Agyapong stressed that this time around, the party will never allow the EC to declare President John Mahama winner of the polls, if there is evidence that Nana Akufo-Addo is the actual winner. Stressing that he is sure Ghanaians will vote for NPP, the enraged MP fumed that they will drop peace behind and fight for her rights if the EC boss ever makes any attempt to cheat on them.
If Charlotte declares Mahama winner, that day; make nobody make a mistake, Liberians were peaceful, Sierra Leoneans were peaceful but when they got to that point….all die be die. If she attempts to steal the vote, if they haven’t thought of it, they should. If the pink sheet suggests that Nana Addo has won and they try to declare Mahama winner; it will never happen. That day, if you are pastor stay home, if you are not a man, stay home. We will fight to defend this country. I am confident Ghanaians will vote for the NPP but the electoral commission has decided to cheat us. As the judges said, we will not allow them to plunge this country into chaos.
This is the third time Nana Akufo-Addo is contesting for the presidency haven been beaten earlier by the late John Atta Mills in 2008.
In the same vein, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Akuapem South Constituency in the Eastern Region, Osei Bonsu Amoah, has said it will be suicidal for Ghanaians if the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) wins this year’s general election for another four-year term.
According to him, the Ghanaian economy has witnessed sharp decline over the last eight years under the Mills-Mahama administration, resulting in unbearable hardships in the country.
Osei Bonsu Amoah, popularly known as O. B. Amoah, explained that the consequence of such a moribund administration is the “hardship that we are all experiencing now and retaining NDC in power will be disastrous.”
Inaugurating the Presbyterian Women’s College of Education Wing of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the NPP in Aburi on Thursday, the lawmaker said it is only the New Patriotic Party that can save Ghanaians from the current economic hardships. He urged members of TESCON to go out and campaign from “room to room”, “market to market”, to bring the party’s flag bearer to power in 2017.
According to the Akuapem South MP, it’s time to bid the NDC goodbye and save the country from the mess the NDC have put it in for 8 long years.
He also appealed to the students to campaign for NPP parliamentary candidates for the party to obtain majority seats in the legislature.
Tell your friends who are not here that when they vote for Nana Akufo-Addo, they should also vote for the NPP parliamentary candidates. No skirt and blouse voting in the elections. Nana Akufo-Addo needs majority of MPs in Parliament to help him run Ghana. If you vote for Nana and you don’t vote for his parliamentary candidate and he brings good policies to Parliament, the NDC will block it. They will vote against it and then all the work that you have done for Nana will be in vain.
O. B. Amoah criticized Mahama for going back on his promise to put money in the packets of Ghanaians. He recalled that when President John Mahama was campaigning in 2008, at every rally, he will ask the people to put their hands in their pockets and bring them out. He will then ask if they found money in their pockets, then the people will say no. The President then promised to put money in those empty pockets. Mr Amoah lamented that up till now he hasn’t fulfilled that promise, rather, he is asking Ghanaians to give him a second tenure for him to do that.
In addition, MP for Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, outlined the policies in the education sector that Nana Akufo-Addo will implement to better their lives if voted into power. The NPP administration, he said, will reintroduce the Teacher-trainee allowances and study leave that have been scrapped by the Mahama administration.
Moreover, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, MP for Ablekuma South, urged the students to kick President Mahama out of office by voting massively for Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2016 general elections.
