The governing National Democratic Congress’ parliamentary candidate for Shai Osudoku, Desmond William Ocloo has died in a car crash.
William Ocloo died instantly in a head-on collision with another vehicle on the Juaso-Kumasi road around 11pm on Thursday March 3, as he drove to Kumasi.
According to reports from Ayekoo, Mr Anthony Nukpenu, the NDC’s deputy Greater Accra regional Youth Organiser told the breakfast shows of both Class91.3 Fm and Accra100.5 Fm in separate interviews on Friday March 4 that ,
Our brother and parliamentary candidate for the Shai Osudoku constituency lost his life in a road accident”.
In addition, Mr. Anthony Nukpenu also confirmed the incident to Citi News:
We received the news last night [ Thursday] that our candidate was on his way to the Ashanti region and he had a road crash at Juaso. He was confirmed dead in the crash. Some of our executives have arrived at the Juaso Hospital Morgue and have confirmed that he’s no more. He was driving alone and had a head-on collision with another vehicle. Both drivers died in the accident.”
Desmond William Ocloo won the party’s primary in November 2015, to become the Parliamentary Candidate for the NDC in the Shai Osudoku Constituency for the 2016 general elections in November.
William Ocloo beat incumbent David Tetteh Assumeng (1280) in the primary by polling 4,350. Two other contenders: Dr. Kpessah Whyte and Ebenezer Adzakli polled 3,189, and 393, respectively.
